Arthur Gallant Racing Runs the Table at Cecil County Dragway
21 AUG, 2017
RISING SUN, MD – Building off runner-up finishes at New England Dragway and Atco Dragway in the two prior races, Dan Page and Arthur Gallant carried that momentum all the way into the winner’s circle at the Cecil County Dragway NHRA Northeast Division Regional event.
At the end of qualifying Dan Page sat atop the Top Alcohol Dragster qualifying list with a 5.270 elapsed time (ET) at 273.94 miles per hour. In the first round of eliminations on Saturday afternoon, the team defeated fellow injected-nitro powered racer Karen Stalba with a 5.35 second ET at 272 miles per hour. With dark and dewy conditions setting in, the decision was made to run the rest of the race on Sunday.
The team was greeted by much better atmospheric conditions on Sunday morning for their matchup with the A/Fuel Dragster of Rich McPhillips. Taking advantage of the better weather, Dan and the team thundered to a low elapsed time of the event 5.210 second ET, tying their personal best set in Atco, NJ two weeks prior, to defeat the very quick 5.24 second effort of McPhillips.
This set up a rematch of the last two finals with the A/Fuel Dragster of Josh Hart. With the track temperatures rising and the sun beating down on the track, Page got off the starting line first and navigated the tricky track conditions a little better than Hart, cruising to a 5.53 to 6.42 second win, the team’s first since Indy last year.
“It feels good to get back into the winner’s circle,” said driver Dan Page. “Arthur and the crew worked really hard in some hot conditions this weekend so it’s good to see them get rewarded, especially after falling short in the final the last two races.”
Next up the Arthur Gallant Motorsports team will be looking to defend their title at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana August 30-Sept 4.
